NURSE REPRESENTATIVE NOMINATIONS ACCEPTANCE FORM


Associate Nurse Representative (including Elect, Current and Past)

Requirements:

  • Carry an active Registered Nurse (RN, not LPN) license for state of residence.
  • Maintain active Certification in hyperbaric medicine with at least three years past experience.
  • Maintain active UHMS Associate membership in good standing.
  • Abide by the bylaws of the UHMS.
  • Currently work fulltime in the field of hyperbaric medicine
  • Work in the field of hyperbaric medicine for a minimum of three years.
  • Must have the time availability and financial capability to attend six UHMS Board of Director meetings (locations vary) throughout the two-year BoD term to ensure active participation and appropriate Associate representation.
  • Must have the availability and financial capability to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting for the total six-year term.
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by a statement of confidentiality and professional code of conduct with the UHMS.
  • Must reveal any potential conflicts of interest and willingly abandon them.
  • Serve a total six-year term. (Nurse-Elect x 2 yrs, Nurse Representative x 2 yrs (BoD), Past Nurse x 2 yrs)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Associate membership within the UHMS Board of the Directors with a particular emphasis on the hyperbaric nurse’s role and interests.
  • Function as an ambassador by meeting with and engaging nurse members to present their ideas, encourage support and facilitate participation in order to promote the field of hyperbaric nursing and UHMS membership.
  • Contribute regular articles to the UHMS newsletter Pressure under the Nursing Notes section to act as a public platform for communication among hyperbaric nurses.
  • Sit on the UHMS Accreditation Council as the Nurse Representative. Attend and participate in their scheduled meetings, calls and emails. Provide constructive commentary to the AC while evaluating completed facility surveys.
  • Participate at BoD meetings and complete assigned projects in a timely fashion. Submit a committee report by the deadline prior to each BoD meeting.
  • Coordinate with the Tech Representative for the planning and presentation of the Associates Council and business meetings.
  • Conduct oneself in a respectful and professional manner while functioning in the role of a member of the UHMS Board of Directors.
  • Expect to be held accountable for one’s actions that represent behavior unbecoming of a member of the UHMS Board of Directors.
