List of accredited facilities
**UHMS is now in agreement with The Joint Commission**
"The Joint Commission and the UHMS desire to increase public awareness
of accreditation, both in general and of hyperbaric medicine programs in particular."
Since 2001, the UHMS has a clinical hyperbaric medicine facility accreditation program. Clinical hyperbaric facilities can demonstrate their commitment to patient care and facility safety by voluntarily participating in this program. When invited to perform an accreditation survey, the UHMS will send a team of experts to the facility to examine staffing and training, equipment installation, operation, and maintenance, facility and patient safety, and standards of care.
In addition to a seal of approval, indicating that the facility meets the high performance standards required for accreditation, accredited facilities enjoy the following benefits:
- One complimentary UHMS membership for two years
- 50% reduction in first-year dues for all other
staff members in all membership categories
- One complimentary copy of the Undersea and
Hyperbaric Medicine Journal (UHM) bimonthly for two years
- One complimentary copy of Pressure for two years
- Listing as an accredited facility in UHM and
Pressure
- Listing as an accredited facility on the UHMS
website
- Promoted as an accredited facility at the annual
UHMS scientific meeting
- Authorization to use the official UHMS Accreditation Logo

Significant changes in a facility's organization can affect its accreditation status. Examples of a significant change can include relocation or remodel of facility, change in services offered, merger or joint venture with another organization, change in service provider (contractor), or change in key facility personnel. Please notify the UHMS within 30 days of the change. Failure to notify the UHMS may result in loss of accreditation. Depending on the nature and significance of the changes, an interim site-survey may be required to maintain accreditation.
