Diana has been working in the field of hyperbaric medicine since
2007 and has been the charge nurse since 2008 providing critical care nursing coverage
in a multiplace chamber at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA. This
is a level 1 UHMS accredited, with distinction, medicine hyperbaric center that
delivers 24/7 emergency care that covers most of the state of Washington.
Diana obtained her CHRN in 2008 and she is currently pursuing her
Masters in Nursing at the University of Washington; due to graduate in 2013.
This year Diana's abstract was accepted for oral presentation at
the UHMS annual scientific meeting. Entitled Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Ingestion, the abstract has an objective of looking 25 years of data
on the frequencies and types of toxic co-ingestions that may accompany CO
inhalation. In looking at this analysis, we can better appreciate the
additional clinical issues that we need to be prepared to address in these
patients.
The Associates Recognition Scholarship was established 2006. We
have had the opportunity to award this unique prize to four other qualified
Associates. This award for hyperbaric nurses and technicians is intended to
help offset the expenses associated with the attendance at the ASM so to ensure
we have good participation in high quality abstract submission for our
Associates Breakout Session. Thanks to the UHMS we are able to fund $2,000.00
to be awarded for this scholarship. We hope this will encourage more Associates
to participate in our meeting and gain the professional experience of
presenting their own scientific abstract.
On behalf of the UHMS
Associates Council, please join us in Congratulating Diana Bodwin as this years
Associate Recognition Scholarship recipient!
