Subject: Chest xrays for all hyperbaric patients?
Of course we get them on all patients with risk factors but I recently read a few articles suggesting all adult patients get chest xrays prior to treatment.  I'm looking for feedback on this. Thank you!

Our policy is every HBO candidate must have a chest xray and EKG prior to being approved for treatments.

We generally require one, or at least review a recent one.

I have read that this may not be necessary unless the patient has risk factors.

We require a chest x-ray on every patient before treatment.

It would be interesting to see a study on this - how often do we catch a contraindication for hyperbaric therapy via the mandatory pre-treatment chest x-ray.
